Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign- Launching Event at Saida's Municipalty

Hammoud Hospital UMC launched on Monday, October 8th 2018 the activities of The 6th Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign at Saida'a Municipalties under the title "أنت كل القصة" to shed the light on the importance of early detection, family support, breast re-construction surgery for the woman who chooses. 

The event was divided into three parts:

Part 1: Panel with the Oncoligists "Professor Fadi Farhat, Doctor Khaled Ibrahim and Dr. Mahmoud Wehbi" and Dr. Ahmad Zaatari, Plastic Surgeon. They discussed the latest reserches, the importance of early detection and the possibility of breast re-construction after mastectomy. 

Part 2: Panel with Miss Reem El Baba, Pschycolgist, two surviovors "Mrs. Hala Jundi and Mrs. Samara Fawaz" and Dr. Saiid Makkawi, Husband of Mrs. Safaa Makkawi, Breast Cancer Surviovor. During this panel, they talked about their own experiences with the disease and the family support they had during that period of time. 

Part 3: Saida's Municipality was lightened up in PINK for the month of October to spread awarenesss on Breast Cancer. El Baba Sweets, Saida Rest House, The Spot Mall Saida,Ahlouna, Mouassat, Kotob City, Zahret Al Laymoun and Morjan Group supported this initiative and went PINK.

Dr. Said Shaaban, Cardiologist & Dr. Samia Filali Zaatari, General Medicine-Internist the investigators of the Colcot Study that was published in November 16th by The New England Journal of Medicine and NEJM Journal.


The results of the COLCOT study  has been presented at the American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia, PA on November 16, 2019 and published in The New England Journal of Medicine and NEJM  journal.

Hammoud Hospital UMC contributed to this achievement and helped putting another international milestone for Medicine and Cardiology in Lebanon with its investigators Dr. Said Shaaban and Dr Samia Filali Zaatari.

Dental Humanitarian Mission 2019


Hammoud Hospital University Medical Center and MRC Clinics- Smiling Faces (owned by Dr. Fadi Antar, Pediatric Dentist) in partenrship with Sumar Lakhani Foundation (founded by Dr. Sumar Lakhani, an American Pediatric Dentist) organised a Dental Humanitarain Mission for Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian impoverished children from 6 to 10 years old. The mission took place from October 13th till the 15th at MRC Clinics Saida.
